چکیده
Eighty-four patients who had undergone different types of operation for duodenal ulcer have been studied by endoscopy and gastric biopsy. Half suffered from dyspepsia and vomiting but the other half had no symptoms and acted as controls. Endoscopic and histological abnormalities were found in both groups of patients. However, certain findings occurred more commonly in those with symptoms; severe and extensive hyperaemia, bile staining of the gastric mucus, and bile reflux

The effect of Matricaria Chamomilla on the treatment of ibuprofen-induced gastric ulcers in male rats
ABSTRACT Introduction: Formation of gastric ulcer is a multifactorial process so that vascular changes, mucous secretion, gastric acid and gastrointestinal tract mucous biochemistry are involved in gastric ulcers. Despite therapeutic properties, ibuprofen as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) can cause mucosal lesions in the stomach. In this study, the effect of Matri...
متن کاملEndoscopic management of multiple large antral hyperplastic polyps causing gastric outlet obstruction.
Gastric hyperplastic polyps are often asymptomatic and are found incidentally at upper endoscopy performed for unrelated reasons. Although they are considered a benign lesion, all symptomatic polyps should be removed for a more reliable histological diagnosis, resolution of symptoms and to prevent potential malignant transformation. In fact, there are no significant difference between pure gast...
متن کاملEffect of sodium hydrosulfide on mRNA expression of prostaglandin E2 receptors in response to mucosal acidification and distention-induced gastric acid secretion in rats
Objective(s): Prostaglandins have been shown to mediate the gastro-protective effect of sodium hydrosulfide (NaHS) but effect of NaHS on mRNA expression of prostaglandin E2 receptors (EP1, 3-4; EPs) has not been investigated. Therefore, this study designed to evaluate the effect of NaHS on mRNA expression of EPs receptors in response to mucosal acidification and distention-induced gastric acid ...
متن کاملDuodenogastric reflux: a cause of gastric mucosal hyperaemia and symptoms after operations for peptic ulceration.
This study has investigated the possible association between duodenogastric reflux, gastritis, and symptoms in 35 patients with or without dyspepsia one to 15 years after gastric surgery. Five patients were excluded because of biliary disease, hiatus hernia, or recurrent ulceration. The remaining 30 were assessed by a symptomatic score, measurement, of bilirubin and sodium concentrations in sam...
متن کاملGhrelin Protection against Lipopolysaccharide-Induced Gastric Mucosal Cell Apoptosis Involves Constitutive Nitric Oxide Synthase-Mediated Caspase-3 S-Nitrosylation
Ghrelin, a peptide hormone produced mainly in the stomach, has emerged as an important modulator of the inflammatory responses that are of significance to the maintenance of gastric mucosal integrity. Here, we report on the role of ghrelin in controlling the apoptotic processes induced in gastric mucosal cells by H. pylori lipopolysaccharide (LPS). The countering effect of ghrelin on the LPS-in...
